Our first ever harvest began on October 14th 2024, and we were lucky enough to have Nicola Bates (the CEO of Wine GB) visiting the vineyard to watch and be involved.
A team of 15 dedicated pickers harvested 11.5 tonnes of grapes, a remarkable achievement considering the challenging climatic conditions of the 2024 season. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier were harvested within a single day, while the majority of the Bacchus was picked a later day the same week, with four rows deliberately left to hang longer for experimental purposes, picked on 31st October. The Chardonnay was harvested during this period also.
The harvested grapes were transported to renowned wineries, including the local legends of Harrow and Hope, and Itasca Wines in Hampshire, known for their exceptional Bacchus wine.
Following the completion of the harvest, the focus shifted to preparing the vineyard for the upcoming season. Pruning has now commenced and in the early months of 2025 the anticipation will build as we embark on tasting trials to determine the final blends for our 2024 vintage.
